ImageEternal rain drops from a mystic rock.

Continuous water "weeps" and drops out of the alcove, creating mystic rain through which you can observe impressive Great White Throne towers . The weeping comes from above where an impermeable shale stone makes up the floor of the slot canyon and prevents water from being absorbed into the ground.

  • Zion National Park, a masterpiece of massive monoliths, deep red canyons, mesas, buttes and towering cliffs. spans around the 15 miles (24 km) long and up to half a mile (800 m) deep Zion Canyon, located in the Southwestern United States, near Springdale, Utah.

  • Mukuntuweap National Monument was established in 1909 to protect the canyon, and by 1919 the monument was expanded to become Zion National Park (Zion is an ancient Hebrew word meaning a place of refuge or sanctuary).

  • Weeping Rock trail, 1 mile (1.6 km) round trip, is easy and short, but steep with 98' elevation gain, so it is usually closed in the winter during icy conditions.

  • Weeping Rock “weeping” comes from canyon above where an impermeable shale stone makes up the floor of the slot canyon and prevents water from being absorbed into the ground. • Weeping Rock trail is truly delightful the entire distance. But from the alcove at the end of the trail you can enjoy impressive views of The Great White Throne towers, admire lush gardens hanging from the ceiling and walking under weeping rock is fun for kids and adults alike.

  • To access from late March to early November, park at the Zion Canyon Visitors Center and ride the Zion Canyon Shuttle and get off at the Weeping Rock shuttle stop. For the rest of the year you can drive into the canyon and park at the Weeping Rock parking lot.
